Throughout our operations across Jamaica, we have seen tremendous loss especially in death, so we have established a new Members Group Plan providing financial assistance to dependents in the case of death. We are committed to providing insurance products and services to meet the needs of individuals, families, and businesses; offering a diverse and dynamic work environment for our employees; and supporting our communities.

Born out of a need to provide Co-operative Societies and their members with high-quality general insurance services, Jamaica Co-operatives Insurance Agency Ltd (JCIA) formerly NUCS-CIS, opened its doors as a co-operative in 1983. By 1985 it was registered as an insurance agency. JCIA provides its members with high-quality general insurance services at competitive rates to the co-operative movement. As a Co-operative Society, we operate under the principle of service above profit and sharing of any profits and returns.

The company is owned by Credit Union members of the Co-operative Credit Union League, and by other co-operatives via the National Union of Co-operatives Societies. NUCS-CIS was renamed Jamaica Co-operatives Insurance Agency Ltd (JCIA) in 2009 in recognition of the changes to the ownership structure of the society. The resolution for the rebranding was passed at the Annual General Meeting on April 14th, 2010.
